After 9 years of experience, Global Tea Cup has become China's most valued and industry-recognized professional tea competition.

In the past eight competitions, there have been more than 1,500 companies and more than 1,800 quality tea samples tested, including white tea, green tea, yellow tea, oolong tea, dark tea, black tea.

The competition uses up to 49 different pesticide residue testing standards. The teas are examined and evaluated by experts from different fields from all over the world. The competition uses Chinese national standards and international standards to scientifically and methodically examine each tea.

The final winner "Tea Stars" will be promoted through professional channels. Participating in the Global Tea Cup is a specific way for the tea industry of China to test the quality of tea and expand the influence of a brand.

The judges are 9-11 tea experts who specialize in different types of tea.

Competition Details

Scale of marks
Pesticide testing, professional testing by the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, including 23 items Residues and heavy metals testing, and the enterprises that meet the pesticide residue inspection can enter the expert review stage.
Expert review, all judges are selected from the China Tea Society expert database. In accordance with the national standard GB/T23776-2018 "Tea Sensory Evaluation Methods" for review. From the shape, the five factors of soup color, aroma, taste and tea-leaves were evaluated and scored. The average scores of the group was judged as the final score.

For each major type of tea, there're awards as following,

✴️ The Tea Star Award 

The Tea Star Award additional requirements
① For enterprises that have won 1 Special Award in China Tea Cup and 2 Special Gold Awards or Gold Awards in 3 consecutive sessions.
② For enterprises have won 3 Special Gold Awards (or 2 Special Gold Awards and 1 Gold Award) in 3 consecutive sessions.
The company name and sample name must be the same for 3 consecutive sessions.

Authoritative certifications
Award ceremony, the event will be held on the site of the Global Tea Fairs with award medals, certificates and evaluation reports for each winning tea sample in the name of the authoritative organizing committee.
Promotion authorization, The winning company has the right to use the China Tea Cup & Global Tea Cup —— the Tea Star Award / Special Gold Award / Gold Award and other logos promote the same batch of tea products as the winning tea.

The official press release, China Tea Society and Teayoo Media will make following press release, jointly distributed by various cooperative units and industry media.

Joint exhibition resources

Stage for the Tea Stars,  the Tea Star Award winners will be available in the outreach of the 2020 HJC Tea Fairs stage area to hold promotion meetings or custom tea parties.

Onsite video promotion, the tea brand that won the awards will be in the promo videos, which displayed on the site of Tea Fairs stage area.

Roll up banner display, roll up banners of winners will appear on the site of HCJ joint exhibitions.

Business matchmaking, the winners are welcomed to conduct cooperation in holding business matchmaking in HCJ joint exhibitions, which appeal to tea experts, distributors, and buyers as attendees.

The Global Tea fair (Shenzhen) Autumn is honored as the industry’s annual ‘Oscar’ event. As a sub-event to the fair, the eight Global Tea Cup is held one day prior to it. Among the past seven Global Tea Cup, over 1,800 high-quality tea samples were selected from more than 1,200 enterprises, acting as a positive role for relevant tea enterprises in product quality improvement and market popularity building.

After 9 years of cultivation, the Global Tea Cup has become a bench-marking tea competition of tea rating in the tea industry with its professional event process setting, authoritative assessment team, 49 items of agricultural residue tasting standards and grand publicity campaigns.

The tea samples were divided into 8 groups for the judging process, including raw Pu'er, mature Pu'er, black tea, white tea, dark tea, citrus tea ancestors, green tea and oolong tea. The on-site review was under high strictness. Chinese and foreign experts discussed within each other who will be shortlisted or who can get the ‘Special Gold Award’. The title serves as a recognition for those dedicated to producing premium tea.
